#WorldBookDay

Happy World Book Day! I absolutely love reading, and books, so I couldn't not post about World Book Day today. I think reading is such an important skill to have, and we are so lucky to have it - can you even comprehend not being able to read? I really can't! Its an incredibly valuable life skill.

I used to absolutely love World Book Day back in primary school. Getting dressed up (I'm embarrassed to say me and my friend once went as Mary-Kate and Ashley because "they were in some books" - what an awful idea!) and the mobile book shop being in the school hall after the day ended. I loved that authors would come in and visit us from the local area. In year 5 we had the author Joanna Nadin come and tell us all about her book "Maisie Morris and the Awful Arkwrights" which became one of my favourite books EVER! I'm sad thinking that I now don't know where its gone, it was signed and everything...

Recently, I have discovered the town library in Canterbury, and have wanted to mention it on my blog for a while - this seems like the perfect opportunity. I completely forgot how amazing libraries are; especially as I can't really afford books at the moment! I've fallen back in love. Local libraries definitely deserve more credit - they are fantastic ideas. I know where I'm going to be spending my last month in Canterbury! If you love books, and aren't signed up to your local library I'd recommend it so much. It took me less than 5 minutes and now I have a whole huge book collection at my taking and I'm even considering learning some Polish with their language learning DVD's you can borrow.

Currently Reading: Katie Piper's Things Will Get Better. One chapter in, and I'm enjoying it! I'm not in the dark place she describes at all, but I really admire this woman and wanted to read one of her books because I just think she is incredible. (Yes, I did loan it from the library!!)

Happy World Book Day once again. I hope you have a marvellous day whether you are dressed up or just snuggled up reading a book!

What are you currently reading? Do you have fond primary school memories of World Book Day?
