Blogtober | Music Review | Pageant Material by Kasey Musgraves

I like music, but I've never been overly fussed by it. If I hear something I like, that's great but I'm not like Dan who literally lives for music - he can barely deal with not having it for an hour!! Recently though, I've been impressed by the album Pageant Material by Kacey Musgraves.

I'd heard one of the songs (This Town) on the radio at work, casually mentioned it to Dan and he pointed me in the direction of the rest of the album, which is great! Her music is quite light-hearted, and I love how upbeat it is. "Biscuits" and "Family is Family" are both really upbeat, and I like listening to the country style music. "Good Ol' Boys Club" is sooo catchy. One of the best things about her songs though is the fact that some of her lyrics are so relatable. There is nothing better than listening to a song and wanting to instagram the hell out of it, is there? A personal favourite is definitely "Pouring salt in my sugar won't make yours any sweeter".

The best thing about this album is that a majority of the songs are good. There is nothing worse than buying an album and being so impressed with a couple of songs, and being so disappointed by the rest of them. With this album, you definitely won't be disappointed. I love listening to it on the way to work, it's a happy sing-along album and gets me ready for the day. Although there are some favourites, of course, each song is good to listen to and enjoyable.

Pageant Material is actually Kacey's second studio album so after listening to this album, I'll have to go back and listen to some other songs she's done previously. I wish I had discovered her sooner than I did! Her music is relaxing which is one of the best things about music sometimes. I also like the fact you can sing along! Nothing worse than not being able to sing along to a song especially when it is lively like the music on the album.

Have you ever listened to any of Kacey Musgraves' music? What did you think?
