I have recently
been on a 4 day trip to the beautiful Barcelona. I went with my boyfriend, Dan,
and I was really excited as this was our first trip abroad together. We had the
most fantastic time, and I wish I could whisk us both back there right now. This is going to be the first post of three about our visit, so keep your eyes peeled.
We flew quite late and had to navigate
ourselves to our hotel – a lovely 4* (and surprisingly reasonably priced due to
the January sales!) TRYP by Wyndham hotel located close to the El Maresme-Forum
metro station. This was the nicest hotel I have ever been to and it made the trip so
much nicer staying somewhere we loved to come home to after a long day
sight-seeing. We went to bed as soon as we got there because we knew we would want to be
up fairly early so we could explore the city…
We decided to check out the views from the
rooftop of our hotel before leaving for the city, which as you can see were
pretty amazing. I loved the fact that we could look out over the city, and see
things such as the gorgeous Sagrada Familia! It made me so much more excited
for the day ahead and the weather was looking promising even this early on. Dan
and I made our way to Parc Guell, the first stop of the day. This was a place
we both really wanted to go to and it was absolutely stunning. It must have
taken ages for them to do parts of the parc, such as the bench that goes around
the platform on the top level of the parc which you will be able to see in
these pictures.
We carried on exploring the parc and had such
a great time. You can see views, such as the one in the picture above, from the
top level of the parc which was so nice. I absolutely adore views like this
because I think you get a feel for the
place from being able to look over the whole city. The art that Gaudi produced on the buildings and structures were so
fascinating to see; I have made a mosaic before and it took me about 15 minutes
to do a tiny CD sized one so I don’t even want to imagine how long the artists
took on this parc! It’s amazing. I would really recommend going.

I obviously had to pose with Gaudi’s famous
lizard. After a
while, we decided that we would like to head back to the hotel to freshen up
and then grab some lunch at V.I.PS which is an incredible Spanish restaurant. Their burgers are to die for (and I'm not really a burger girl!). I was so excited to take Dan there because I just knew he would love it, which thankfully he did. It was soooo lucky because the only V.I.P.S
in Barcelona was literally a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. After this late
lunch we went to La Rambla, which is one of the main streets in
Barcelona. It was game day in Barcelona so La
Rambla was very busy and there were frequent loud bangs which worried me a
little but soon we were relaxed and enjoying a mint choc chip ice cream whilst
walking down La Rambla and taking everything in! It was really nice to see
everyone just having a nice time and enjoying the culture. We also decided to
pop into the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria where we enjoyed a marzipan
cupcake and some strawberries!
We had a
fantastic first day in Barcelona and couldn't wait to see what else the city had to offer over the next few days...
Have you ever been to Parc Guell or La
Rambla?
Looks like you had an absolutely amaaaazing time! I'm so jealous. I want to go visit Barcelona one day x
