Elvis Exhibition at the O2

Dan is a MASSIVE Elvis fan, and he is lucky enough to be involved with the UK's best Elvis magazine, Essential Elvis, who were running an event on Saturday 23rd May that Dan and I were invited to. We were to go to the Brooklyn Bowl for dinner before a VIP opening of the Elvis Exhibition in the O2 for those of us involved in the event.

Unfortunately, I was too involved in my dinner to take pictures, but I went for the BLT sandwich with fries, and Dan opted for a burger. The fries really need a few paragraphs dedicated to them alone, but as we'll focus on Elvis, I'll just say they were definitely the best I've ever had! They were incredible. A must if you are going to the O2.

After dinner we joined everyone at the escalators that lead up to the exhibition. I was so impressed by how many people turned up. As someone who appreciates Elvis, both his voice and his face, rather than being a true fan, I was really surprised that so many people were so into him. However, after seeing the exhibition I could see why. He was an impressive person that's safe to say!

The exhibition was laid out in a really good, and logical way. You almost went through the stages of his life initially, then it led into a circular room, focusing on his performing years, with lots of different rooms off it dedicated to specific things. An example would be a room for Graceland, his home in Memphis! Dan is desperate to go, so I think this place will be on our "to go" list for the future.

A couple of my favourite things would be the gold lame suit (it was so shiny!), an Elvis lipbalm, the cars and the room with all of his army stuff in it. As he was such a public figure he could have easily missed this out, but I think it was really honourable of him to go. He also wrote a note just before his return, because people had suggested a home coming party for him, and he didn't want that because he didn't see why he should be honoured more than the other men who had been in the army. I think that just shows what a nice guy he was!

I found the exhibition a lot more interesting than I initially thought I would. I knew I would enjoy it, but I didn't know how much! It was lovely having Dan there with me too to explain things a little bit more, and the essential elvis team were great. It was nice to know a little bit more about Elvis too! I can definitely pinpoint the years when he looked his most delicious!! I think I have a new man crush...

Do you like Elvis? Have you been to the exhibition at the O2?

Canterbury | Cafe Chambers

Sophie and I headed down to Cafe Chambers, which is in the Kings Mile in Canterbury. Neither of us had been before, but are always trying to make the most of Canterbury before we leave, so we went! I'd heard really good reviews of this place before, and we definitely weren't dissapointed.

I was actually surprised by the wide variety of different things on the menus - they had everything from pancakes, to brownies, to burgers! My kind of place. However, we started off with Cloudy Lemonades whilst we perused the menu trying to decide what to have.

I chose to have the Americano pancakes, without maple syrup, and Sophie chose the pancakes with Hot berries, maple syrup and cream which looked delicious. Both us had been thinking about pancakes all morning because we knew this was definitely something they served there so pancakes were the obvious choice! I'll try a burger next time I think, they looked great.

When the pancakes came out it was even more obvious we had made the right decision. They looked amazing! Eating them was even better. I loved the sweetness and fluffy american style pancakes with the perfectly cooked bacon! So yummy. I love a savoury pancake.

I was so impressed by Cafe Chambers, and only wish I'd found it sooner. Luckily, Dan hasn't been yet so its the perfect excuse to get back to our university city to explore more.

Do you like savoury pancakes? Have you ever been to Cafe Chambers?

10 thoughts of someone who has just finished their degree

I finished my degree on the 14th May, and despite being relieved, I don't think anyone can fully prepare you for the rollercoaster of emotions that follows!

One/ What do I do now? I don't have an essay to write, no exams to revise for - WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?

Two/ Ahh, I can finally relax. Alarms are a thing of the past!

Three/ I'm so bored, I actually think I would happily write an essay instead of being sat here doing nothing. Well maybe not, but you know, I'm bored.

Four/ I don't want to finish and be a grown up, it's not fair.

Five/ Finally, I can just sit in my bed all day, doing what I want and when I want without having to feel guilty

Six/ I really need to find a job!

Seven/ I want to make the most of my university city in the last couple of weeks I have here...oh wait, I'm skint and have no car.

Eight/ I think I've cried more since finishing than when I was writing my dissertation

Nine/ I'm sick of having no money now, I need a job so I can be sensible and save, and splurge on unnecessary items all the time!

Ten/ My hatred for those starting uni has just increased by 100%. If you are going to university, do not talk to me ever.

Have you recently finished your degree? How are you feeling?

Benefit ChaCha Balm

This lip balm is one I have had for quite a while, but still absolutely love. I have to say, I love the packaging of this product, I think it's not only cute but also quite sophisticated too. Benefit describes this product as "A juicy pout! Chachabalm conditions & hydrates with mango butter and sodium hyaluronate. This mango-tinted kiss of sheer, buildable color gives you the softest, juiciest lips" and I agree. Its such a lovely colour and even though it isn't as long lasting as I had hoped for, you can definitely feel it hydrating and working its magic!

There is a slight shimmer to the lip balm, and I really like that because it makes it look nicer than just having nothing on your lips for everyday wear, yet it isn't too much for just casual looks. This is one of my absolute favourites. If I'm feeling a lipstick in the day time this is my go to product, or if I'm going out but don't want to over-do it, I'm back again! I love it.

Have you ever had a Benefit lipbalm? What did you think about it?

I have finally finished my degree! It feels amazing to be back blogging, but so incredibly strange to be typing the words finished and degree in the same sentence. Despite having really mixed feelings about finishing, I feel OK. I am so ready to finish having a constant stream of work all the time, and to be finally earning some money of mine own, but equally so upset at having to leave Canterbury, and the uni fam behind.

I've really missed blogging whilst I've been hard at work, but am so ready to get back into it. I have lots of ideas running around my head for my blog this summer. I want to improve on so many things, and just generally give more time to my blog!

Hopefully, I'll be up to lots of fun things during the summer, making the most of it before I get a full-time, grown up job and enter the real world! I'm super excited to start volunteering with Catching Lives, a charity I wrote about here. I'll be with them for a couple of weeks, and I'm really looking forward to learning about the amazing things they do, and meeting some of their clients. I've also managed to get myself a week of work experience with a local lifestyle magazine to my hometown. I'm so excited to join their team for a week.

Dan and I will also be heading off to Kefalonia for two weeks come the end of June. I am so excited to be able to relax with him, after a busy and challenging year. I have never been to Kefalonia before, but I have done a lot of research and both our hotel and the area looks lovely! Its a little way out of the town, but the hotel run a free shuttle bus into the town of Skala which will be nice.

I hope all my readers are happy, that any exams you have had have gone well, or just that you are having a nice time at the moment!

Its nice to be back...
